INHERITANCE LAW

Inheritance law can be defined as the totality of rules regulating the status of assets and liabilities and other legal relationships related to the transferable properties that end with the death of the testator. The concept of active and passive is important in this regard, and since the principle of universal succession is adopted in our legal system, the heirs can inherit the rights of the testator such as movable and immovable properties in the event of transfer, and since the debts, if any, will pass to them, they are also personally responsible for these debts. Another issue is who can be an heir, and the class system, which is rooted in Germanic law and is also applied in countries such as Switzerland and Germany, has been adopted in Turkish Law.
